“Will Fix Ideology”: Hyderabad Law School Student Assaulted And Forced To Chant “Allah Hu Akbar”, Case Filed

A shocking incident has come to light where a student of the ICFAI Law School in Hyderabad was reportedly ragged, assaulted, lynched and forced to chant ‘Allah Hu Akbar’ (Allah is the greatest) by his Muslim seniors.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media in which a group of students can be seen beating up and threatening the victim inside a hostel room.

The students can be heard saying “will fix his ideology, beat him to coma,” in the video.

In the complaint filed by the victim Himank Bansal, he said that around 15-20 persons barged into his hostel room at 3:30 PM on 1 November 2022 and ganged up on him.

He mentioned that they kicked his testicles, himiliated him and threatened to beat him to death if he didn’t take his trousers off. He added that he has noticeable bruises under his right eye and a swollen skull. The perpetrators apparently asked him to take a story of him severely hurt and upload it as a Snapchat story.

They had threatened him with death if he reported to the college authorities about the incident.

Bansal mentioned in his complaint that they attacked him as he had mistakenly referred to Prophet Mohammad as a ‘paedophile’ to another friend.

According to Bansal, one of his friends from 1st year BA-LLB named Dipasha Sharma had allegedly called him a paedophile for being friends with a girl 3 and a half years younger than him. Bansal claimed to have defended his friendship saying that he was not seeking any sexual relations whi her for and further cited references from Islamic scriptures to explain how he is not wrong. The entire conversation according to Bansal had happened in Instagram messenger. Dipasha Sharma had allegedly shared screenshots of this conversation which led to the gang barging into his room and beating him.

“I did not realise that my statements about her amounted to disrespect because Islamic scholars like Zakir Naik have acknowledged this reality by citing an authentic hadith.”, he said.

He also noted that the perpetrators invaded his privacy and read through his other chats on WhatsApp without his consent.

“My family have same religious sentiment, so we had some chats where someone asked us to only buy goods from Hindu vendors and not from Muslim vendors. We also had some other pro-Hindu chats there.”, he had noted in his complaint.

He said that he had to make up a story that those chats were made by his cousin and not him but admitted in the complaint that it was him who made those chats around a year back and doesn’t hold those views now.

Bansal also explained in graphic detail how each of the person allegedly assaulted him.

Video and photographic evidence of the assault has also been submitted to the police along with the complaint by Bansal. However, it is being reported that the incident is being trivialized as a senior-junior faceoff by a certain group.

The Cyberabad Police have registed a case against the accused under the Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 342 (wrongful containment), 450 (house-trespass in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment for life), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), R/W 149 of the Indian Penal Code and Sec 4(I), (II), and (III) of the Prohibition of Ragging Act 2011.

Dravidian Stockists Amplify Half-Truths Peddled By One India Tamil About YouTuber In Siruvachur Temple Crowd Funding Case

YouTuber Karthik Gopinath has approached the Madras High Court seeking direction to the Hindu Religious Charitable and Endowments department (HR&CE) to transfer ₹30.77 lakh he raised through crowdfunding to restore damaged idols at the Periyasamy Hills Temple in Siruvachur, Perambalur district.

The case was heard by Justice P.D. Audikesavalu. Advocate General R. Shunmugasundaram and Advocate V. Raghavachari appeared on behalf of the HR&CE and petitioner respectively. Petitioner Karthik Gopinath stated in his affidavit that he is a social media influencer and he learned last year that miscreants had damaged the idols of the Periyasamy Hills temple as well as a private temple in Siruvachur.

He also stated that on October 10, 2021, he posted a video on his YouTube channel about restoring the idols and raised funds through the crowdfunding platform Milaap. He posted another video on October 14 asking donors to stop sending money because the required amount was collected in three days. However, some of the donors contributed to his personal account.

Although he was prepared to transfer the entire ₹30.77 lakh, including the money collected in his personal account, for the renovation of the temple, police arrested him on May 30 after filing a criminal complaint against him based on a complaint made by the Executive Officer of Mathurakaliamman Temple in Siruvachur.

Therefore the petitioner has now moved the Madras High Court seeking direction to the HR&CE to transfer the amount collected by him for the restoration of the damaged idol.

However, the news was misreported in certain news websites like One India Tamil, which said that Karthik Gopinath has ‘accepted’ to give the money ‘defrauded in the name of the temple’.

Karthik Gopinath has posted a video on his YouTube channel Ilaya Bharatham in response to the misreporting. He said,”The issue has become sensationalized even inside the court. Normally, the Advocate General will not appear for a writ petition in the admission stage. However, in my case, the Advocate General appeared in the first sitting to oppose the plea.”

He further said, “RSB media like OneIndiaTamil has been spreading fake news regarding the case. In the same way that Annamalai refers to Murasoli as toilet paper, I refer to OneIndiaTamil as a toilet news website.”

He continued, “It was me who requested the court to direct the HR&CE to accept the money I collected. But OneIndiaTamil was reporting as if I agreed to transfer money because of someone’s order. I was ready to transfer the funds from day one. However, HR&CE refused to accept the money in order to keep the FIR alive.”

Many members of the ruling DMK resorted to peddling half-truths about the case.

DMK IT Wing Deputy Secretary Isai amplified the half-truths calling the YouTuber names.

“All the people hanging out with Annamalai (BJP Tamil Nadu President) turn out to be filtered fraud, scoundrel, thiefs and rapists. That too this Karthik Gopinath is a mega fraud”, the DMK IT Wing Deputy Secretary said.

Quoting the fake news spread by OneIndiaTamil, a Dravidian Stockist, SKP Karuna who is the Chairman of SKP Engineering College in Thiruvannamalai, said,” Does stealing become non-criminal if the stolen money is returned?”

Karthik Gopinath responded strongly to SKP Karuna, saying that he should speak only after learning about the case and that it was he who asked the court to order the HR&CE to take money from him because they had not been taking it for a long time in order to paint him in a bad light.

Meanwhile, other social media users began digging into SKP Karuna’s details, which revealed that the SKP College to which he is related has Telugu minority status, despite the fact that SKP Karuna stated in his bio that he has an unquenchable thirst and love for Tamil literature.

About Siruvachur Temple Case

Karthik Gopinath, a prominent Tamil YouTuber, was arrested over the issue of raising money for temples at Siruvachur in Perambalur district where idols were vandalized in the months of October and November 2021. He was charged with sections 420 and 409 of the India Penal Code.

It was reported that Karthik Gopinath had collected funds through fund-raising app Milaap to renovate the desecrated temples at Siruvachur. There has been debate over his collection of money as the HR&CE rules does not permit individuals or organizations to solicit donations for temples under HR&CE control.

DMK And Its Allies Welcome Release Of Assassins of Rajiv Gandhi And 15 Other Tamils

The Supreme Court released the remaining six convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case on Friday, extending the benefit of its order that freed their co-convict A G Perarivalan saying, “the appellants are directed to be set at liberty if not required in any other matter”.

Hearing the convict’s petitions, a bench of Justices B R Gavai and B V Nagarathna noted that the applicants’ death sentences had previously been commuted to life sentences due to delays. “We order that all appellants’ sentences be deemed served.” “The applicants are thus ordered to be released unless otherwise required,” the bench said.

On May 18, the Supreme Court issued an order for Perarivalan’s release under Article 142 of the Constitution. On Friday, the bench stated that the same order would apply to the six other defendants.

The bench noted that the six had spent over three decades in prison in the case and said that their behavior had been satisfactory during this time, during which they had also pursued studies. The court considered Nalini’s gender when making its decision.

According to the investigation agencies, Nalini took Dhanu, the suicide bomber, to a shop to stitch the salwar kameez that was used to conceal the IED for the assassination. The attack also claimed the lives of fifteen other people, including nine police officers, and injured 43 others.

However, some Dravidian Stockists, VCK cadres, and Naam Tamilar Katchi cadres celebrated the release of the Rajiv Gandhi assassins, giving the impression that they were innocent.

In a video, DMK spokesperson Rajiv Gandhi stated, “Even before being elected, the DMK promised to take all necessary steps to free the Rajiv Gandhi case convicts. Today is the day we fulfilled our promise. The DMK government vigorously supported and argued in favor of Perarivalan in the Supreme Court, laying the groundwork for the release of six other convicts today. The DMK government’s No-Objection-Certificate (NOC) is the only reason that has made the release of the convicts possible.”

VCK chief Thirumavalavan said that he welcomes the Supreme Court Judgement despite the delay and that it is a victory to the protest of the entire Tamil community.

Tamimun Ansari, former MLA and general secretary of Manithaneya Jananaayaga Katchi, expressed his delight at the Supreme Court’s decision to release the six Rajiv Gandhi case convicts.

K. Balakrishnan, State Secretary of the Marxist Communist Party, said, “We welcome the Supreme Court’s decision to release six people who had been imprisoned for a long time. The Supreme Court has given a proper lesson to the functioning of the Governor and the Central Government by affirming the rights of the state government.”

Mutharasan, CPI State Secretary: The governor and the central government failed to take appropriate action on the files pertaining to the release of seven Rajiv Gandhi case convicts and failed to release them on time. We applaud the Supreme Court’s acquittal of six people in the ensuing legal battle.

MDMK General Secretary Vaiko: Both the previous and current governors were delaying action on the files concerning the release of seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi case. It is happy that the Supreme Court has put an end to this and ordered the release of six convicts.

Fringe groups in Tamil Nadu, like Naam Tamilar, have welcomed the judgement and were burning crackers while celebrating the Rajiv Gandhi assassin’s release. It should be noted that the NTK party’s co-ordinator Seeman claimed during a public meeting that they were responsible for the murder of Rajiv Gandhi.

However, Congress, a DMK ally, has condemned the release of the Rajiv assassins, saying that the murderers should not be celebrated. Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President KS Alagiri expressed sadness at a society that allows murderers to roam freely. “Fortunately, the court did not rule that they were innocent,” he said. Alagiri went on to say that the families of those who died alongside Rajiv Gandhi are heartbroken. Tamil Maanila Congress chief GK Vasan said the Supreme Court order surprised the public and shocked the families of those who got killed in the blast.

In a press release, Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai stated that although the party accepts the Supreme Court decision, the murderers should not be celebrated. “But it must be clarified that the released convicts are not acquitted of their crimes,” he said in a statement.

Dravidian Stockists Harass Muslim Woman BJP Member In TN

The DMK IT wing and some mainstream media outlets have been circulating an old misconstrued video of a Tamil Nadu BJP Muslim women member Alisha Abdulla, with some Dravidian Stockists making below-the-belt remarks.

In an interview to a YouTube channel two months ago, Alisha Abdulla stated that if a woman knows Hindi, she can escape rapists in North Indian cities like Delhi. After two months, the statement that was not a talking point when the interview was given has now become a soundbite.

Sun News published a news card in which she was quoted as saying that in cities like Delhi or Hyderabad if a girl knows Hindi, she can scold the harasser with bad words and escape.

However, Alisha refuted Sun News saying that it is a shame for a leading news channel to publish a false translation and misleading information. She added,”language gives you the confidence in such circumstances is all I meant and not to use foul words! This is demeaning & defaming ”

U2Brutus, a Dravidian Stockist YouTube channel known for abusing Hindu gods and the Hindu faith, had released a derogatory video with sexist remarks titled “Lovely kisses to 5 sense Alisha from U2Brutus,” in which he describes her as a senseless, stupid, empty-headed, and idiotic person.

In response to the video, Alisha stated on Twitter that it is not surprising to be demeaned by someone who insulted Lord Natarajar and that it is only a matter of time before he pays for his deeds.

U2 Brutus ‘Minor’ Vijay had earlier made disparaging remarks on Lord Shiva and Goddess Kaali in a video titled “This is the reason why Nataraja stands with his leg lifted”. He has also slandered Hindus and the Hindu faith in a video titled “Pornography in Vedas”

In an attempt to mock Alisha’s religion, U2Brutus said “Allah Hu Akbarka” instead of “Allah Hu Akbar.”

Alisha responded strongly, stating that she cannot stoop to his (U2Brutus) level, citing how he sent flying kisses in his video and then spewed hatred against a religion. She added that she is open to criticism but not to below-the-belt remarks.

Speaking to The Commune, Alisha said that she has been facing targeted attacks for a harmless comment that she made. She clarified that all she meant to say was knowing Hindi would help one survive in any part of India.

“All that I wanted to say was knowing Hindi is a an additional skill that can help one survive in any part of India. It adds value to one’s resume. I am at fault though. I couldn’t articulate it properly as my Tamil speaking skills are not that great.”, she said.

She also said that taking her old interviews and sharring snippets of it to target her is a motivated attempt to tarnish her image as she is working to conduct free medical camps. She said that her party BJP has been of support.

On the derogatory video published by U2 Brutus ‘Minor’ Vijay, she said “It is disgusting. That man needs medical help as he seems very insecure. There are very few women politicians in India and such attacks discourage women from entering politics. I didn’t make any comment offending anyone. I just shared my views.”, she said.

Kanchipuram Ulagalantha Perumal Temple Priest Allegedly Assaulted For Preventing Misuse of Temple Property

Goondas have attacked one of the archakar (priest) of Sri Ulagalandha Perumal Temple in the presumption that he is preventing a car parking project planned on the land that belongs to the temple. The priest who was brutally assaulted posted a video that went viral on social media.

The temple priest in the video said, “It is by the grace of Perumal that I am alive today. They were planning to set up an advanced parking area on the land that belongs to Perumal temple. I was beaten by them when I thought of getting a stay order on the project from the court. I am yet to get the stay order. They attacked me even before getting the stay order.”

He added that he was afraid to go to the police because the police were also favorable to the goondas who attacked him.

He went on to say, “They asked why I was getting involved in the parking lot project while they were assaulting me. However, I do not recognize the faces of those who assaulted me.”

Tamil Nadu BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan has condemned the attack on a temple priest who was trying to prevent the misuse of temple property and demanded that the perpetrators be punished by the Tamil Nadu government.

Ulagalandha Perumal Temple is a temple dedicated to Vishnu located in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is glorified in the Naalayira Divya Prabandham, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Alvar saints from the 6th through 9th centuries CE. It is one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Ulagalantha Perumal, and his consort Lakshmi as Amuthavalli. The temple is believed to have been built by the Pallavas, with later contributions from the medieval Cholas, Vijayanagara kings, and Madurai Nayaks.

Madurai: Christian Preacher And His Two Doctor Sons Pray In Front Of Dead Woman Expecting Resurrection

An incident in Madurai, in which a husband and his sons prayed for three days in front of a dead women in the hope that she would resurrect, has shocked residents nearby.

Balakrishnan, who is from the Chitambarapuram area near Kalakkadu in Tirunelveli District, has been living with his wife Malathi and two sons in the Madurai SS Colony, Janaki Narayanan Street.

Balakrishnan retired as a manager in a private hotel. Jaishankar, his elder son, has completed his medical studies, while his younger brother is in his third year of an MBBS degree.

They are said to have converted from Hinduism to Christianity a few years ago and were preaching part-time. Balakrishnan’s wife Malathi fell sick last week and was admitted to a private hospital in Madurai for treatment. However, she died on November 8th after failing to respond to the treatment. The family took Malathi’s body home in an ambulance and kept it in a refrigerator without even informing her relatives of her death.

Residents of the apartments, who were shocked to learn of the incident, alerted the SS Colony police station. When police arrived and questioned the family, they said that they were keeping the body while they waited for their relatives.

The apartment residents were terrified as the family did not bury the body even after three days, and so they filed another complaint with the police. When the police arrived and warned the family, they threatened to commit suicide if the police tried to enter their home. They locked the house from inside and continued their prayer expecting the women to resurrect.

They agreed to open the door after being persuaded by Malathi’s relatives and a priest from the local church. Later, the body was taken to their native place.

Police investigation revealed that the family kept praying in front of the body, hoping for her to resurrect like Jesus Christ on the third day, and when she did not, they agreed to bury the body.

Jamesha Mubeen Conspired With 6 Arrested Accused To Fabricate Vehicle-Borne IED, NIA Reveals

On 10 November 2022, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at 43 locations across Tamil Nadu in connection with the Coimbatore bomb blast case.

The searches were conducted in 8 districts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruvallur, Tirupur, Nilgiris, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Nagapattinam, and in Palakkad district of Kerala.

In its statement, the NIA said “According to preliminary investigations, the accused Jamesha Mubeen, after taking bayath / oath to ISIS was planning to carry out suicidal attacks and cause extensive damage to symbols and monuments of a particular religious faith and with the intention to strike terror among a particular section of a community.”

During the searches conducted on 10 November 2022, the NIA had seized incriminating documents and digital devices from the house of the suspects.

The NIA has so far arrested six accused related to the case.

“The accused persons had conspired with the deceased Jamesha Mubeen to procure different chemicals and other ingredients for fabrication of Improvised Explosive Devices, including a vehicle borne IED, from online shopping platforms to commit sensational terrorist acts.”, the NIA statement said.

Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai lashed out at the MK Stalin-led DMK government for its denial to acknowledge the Coimbatore blast as an act of terror and for calling it a ‘cylinder blast’.

“The accident resulting in the death of the terrorist is a clear-cut ‘Suicide Bombing Incident’. There is no more hiding now!”, BJP Tamil Nadu President Annamalai said adding that the NIA has termed the incident as “Bomb Blast Case”.

“Apart from the incriminating evidence that was found during the search, the NIA today confirms that the 6 men arrested conspired with Jamesha Mubin for fabricating “Vehicle borne IED” to commit multiple suicide attacks.”, Annamalai said.

It is worth mentioning that even recently, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan in an interview to the India Today had downplayed the terror incident calling it a cylinder blast.

Annamalai also came down heavy on the Tamil Nadu police calling it their failure of intelligence.

“The people of Coimbatore were saved by God’s mercy as TN Police’s intelligence unit’s existence serves very little purpose.”, he said.

DMK-Allies Congress and CPI(M) In TN Support EWS Reservation, TN Cong Takes Dig At DMK

Contrary to the DMK’s stance, its alliance partners Congress and CPI (M) supported the Modi government’s 10% reservation for the economically weaker sections (EWS).

After the Supreme Court upheld the constitutional validity of the 10% reservation for economically weaker sections in education and employment, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has called an all-legislative party meeting for Saturday to discuss the next course of action.

On Tuesday, the DMK announced that it would file a review petition against the Supreme Court ruling on the 10% EWS reservation. In a statement, DMK General Secretary Durai Murugan quoted one of the judges, Justice S Ravindra Bhat, as saying that the Constitutional Amendment weakened social justice and thus destroyed the basic structure of the Constitution. The VCK has already stated that it will appeal the verdict.

Notably, the verdict was welcomed by Congress and the CPM, two DMK allies. Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president KS Alagiri went on to say that reservation for EWS in ‘forward castes’ was initiated by the former UPA government at the Centre.

In an apparent dig at its ally, the TNCC president stated, “no one side can lay claim to any exclusive right to social justice, and those opposing the 10% reservation could not be its champions.”

CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan stated that the party welcomes the Supreme Court decision while demanding that the income ceiling set to qualify for the benefit be reduced and that the party voted in favor of the bill even when it was presented in parliament.

He also stated that the party has been requesting for many years, since 1990, that an amendment be passed to provide a certain percentage of the reservation to the economically weaker sections.

He added,”Being in a coalition does not imply that all parties must act in the same manner. Each party has its own set of ideologies. We disagree with VCK on certain issues, and they disagree with us on others. We have already implemented this EWS reservation in Kerala.”

VCK Functionary Arrested For Kidnapping Businessman In Chidambaram

On Wednesday, the Chidambaram police arrested four people, including a Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) functionary, in connection with a kidnapping in Chidambaram, Cuddalore district. They are looking for five more people who have fled the scene in connection with the case.

Haja Moideen, a native of Chidambaram, who worked in an IT firm, has quit his job and now lives in Mumbai with his family. He owns houses and plots in Neelangarai and other parts of Chennai, Chidambaram, and Thanjavur.

He recently traveled from Mumbai to Thanjavur to visit his sister and planned to sell his Chidambaram property, which he purchased from Jamaaludeen in 2017.

On learning about Haaja Moideen’s plan to sell the property, Jamaaludeen threatened him to return the property for the same price that he sold in 2017. However, Haaja Moideen refused to sell the property to Jamaaludeen, which annoyed him.

In this situation, 9 persons including Jamaaluddin, VCK’s Chidambaram Parliamentary Constituency Secretary VK Chellappan, abducted Haaja Moideen who came in a car to Lalkhan Street in Chidambaram on November 5th. Subsequently, Jamaaludeen and VK Chellappan locked Haja Moideen in a hotel room in the Vandigate area for two days, demanded the original property documents, beat him up, and severely assaulted him.

He somehow informed his friend Kumar in Chennai about the kidnapping. Following his friend’s complaint, Chidambaram police rushed to the spot and found them missing. On inquiry, it was revealed that the abducted Haja Moideen was transferred in a car to another location. The police then traced the car through the GPS signal of the mobile phones inside the car and intercepted it on the way to Chennai in the Pallikaranai area under the jurisdiction of the Neelangarai police.

Subsequently, the police rescued Haja Moideen and arrested four people involved in the kidnapping, including Jamaluddin, VCK functionary VK Chellappan, Vijayabaskar of Omakulam, Ravindran from Manalur, as well as confiscating the car used in the kidnapping. The police are looking for five people who are absconding in this case, namely Mohammad Rafiq, Senthil, Nadanam, Natraj, and Bala.

Supreme Court Constitutes SIT To Probe Chennai Minor Sexual Assault Case. statehood ncpcr muslim girl marriage free speech

The Supreme Court on 9 November 2022 dismissed an appeal filed by the Tamil Nadu government against a Madras High Court order which granted relief to a sweeper employed in a Government Higher Secondary School.

The High Court in its order had granted V. Annamuthu the benefit of regular appointment.

A Supreme Court bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justices Hima Kohli and JB Pardiwala dismissed an appeal filed by the Tamil Nadu government against the Madras High Court order.

While dismissing the appeal, CJI Chandrachud stated that the Court would not hear a petition in which the government is asserting its authority over a “Safai Karamchari (a person engaged in, or employed for any sanitation work).”

CJI DY Chandrachud in his observation said, “A man served the school for 22 years. At the end of those 22 years, the person goes home without gratuity, pension…This is the lowest strata of our society. How can the government go against a poor sweeper? The might of the government against a Safai Karamchari? Sorry. We’re dismissing.”

The respondent was a Sweeper/Scavenger in a Government Higher Secondary School on a part-time basis, where he had worked for the past 22 years. Tamil Nadu government contended that because there were no regular vacancies, he could not be granted the benefit of regular appointment as a part-time employee.

In the impugned order, the Madras High Court had observed: “This Court, even otherwise, cannot imagine a school having thousands of children to be looked after for health and hygiene with the aid of a part-time employee, that too, even a single Sweeper. We, therefore, find that the State Government rightly came up with a scheme for regular appointments…We are not inclined to interfere with the impugned Judgment on the ground that the post of a Sweeper or Scavenger in a Government school is a sine qua non and such post deserves to be made available to an institution keeping in view the nature of the requirement.”
