BJP worker in Kerala hacked to death allegedly by drug mafia

In another case of political and sectarian killing in the Communist-ruled Indian state of Kerala, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) party worker was stabbed to death at Haripad in Alappuzha district.

The name of the BJP party worker is Sarath Chandran, a native of Varyamkode near Kumarapuram in Haripad and as per reports, Sarath was attacked following an argument during a temple festival.

The police said that the person who led the attack as been identified as Nandu Prakash and that they had received several complaints that mafia gangs created problems in the Alappuzha district and this could be the same drug gang that killed Sarath.

The BJP has alleged that members of the drug mafia who are active in Kerala attacked and killed Sarath.

Similar incidents have been reported in Mavelikkara, Alappuzha district in the last few days when the drug mafia had stabbed two young men.

In the last decade, Kerala has witnessed several cases of violence and brutal murder against BJP and RSS activists and in November 2021, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh worker Sanjith was hacked to death in front of his wife in Ellapully, Palakkad.
