BJP TN spokesperson Asuvathaman’s office allegedly set on fire by miscreants, complaint filed with police

Asuvathaman, secretary of BJP Tamil Nadu’s legal wing, has filed a complaint with the Chennai city commissioner’s office, seeking the arrest of those who set fire to his office. The party’s General Secretary Karu Nagarajan, BJP State legal wing president Paul Kanagaraj, and district secretary Vijay Anand accompanied Asuvathaman to the commissioner’s office.

Due to COVID restrictions, Asuvathaman left for his hometown in Ulundurpet district after closing his office at Linghi Chetty street in Chennai on 24.4.2021. As the COVID restrictions were eased, he returned to his office after one and half months only to find his office had been burned down.

In his tweet, he said that the initial police investigation ruled out the possibility of an electric short circuit and that the flammable substance was thrown from the window.

He added,” An object like this does not exist in my office at all. That’s where the fire started and there are traces of burns. Anti-social elements may have been put through the window. Smoke ash is also different. Only if a chemical has been added, this sort of smoke appears.”

On June 15, Asuvathaman, along with Karu Nagarajan, and Paul Kanagaraj went to the Chennai city commissioner’s office and filed a complaint to nab the culprits who had set fire to his office. The cops told him that they would act swiftly.
