Bharat Electronics Ltd receives its largest export order under the agreement signed with Airbus

As part of the offset agreement under the C295 aircraft programme that was signed between the European aircraft manufacturer, Airbus Defence and Space and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), BEL will manufacture and supply Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) and Missile Approach Warning System (MAWS).

In September, the government put ink to paper when it signed a deal for Rs 20,000 crore contract with Airbus Defence and Space to procure 56 C-295 transport aircraft to replace the ageing Avro-748 planes of the IAF.

Due to the offset agreement, the BEL has received its largest export order as per an official statement. Airbus Defence and Space is rigorously working towards the ‘Make in India’ dream of the Indian Government, noted the PSU. Senior executives from BEL and Airbus Defence and Space were present for the contract signing.

“The contract with Airbus Defence and Space is the biggest export order received till date by BEL. We are very happy to be part of the C295 program, ” said Vinay Kumar Katyal, Director of Bengaluru Complex, BEL.
