Assam govt to give scooters to 22,000 girls who secured first division in class 12

The Assam Government has decided to distribute 22,000 scooters to girl students who have secured first division in their class 12 board exams. The government has also provided the provision for them to apply for an electric scooter if they want one. This is to be carried out under the Pragyan Bharti scheme of the state. The distribution of the vehicles is to start by the end of August and are to be completed by October 15, 2020. The margin has been fixed at ₹ 50,000 to 55,000/scooter.

It has also decided to reserve 25% of seats in government colleges for State Board students. This was announced by Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Education Minister of the State.

The Minister also said that aiming to implement the National Education Policy in Assam, the state government has constituted a 40-member high-level committee. “The committee will be divided into various subgroups and it will give recommendations on how to implement the National Education Policy in Assam. By this year, we will make a framework for implementation of the National Education Policy in Assam,” he said.

On the other hand, the state government has urged all colleges of the state to increase their undergraduate seats by 25% this year. The Assam education minister also said that all the teachers from primary to university will have to mandatorily attend their workplaces from September 1.
