The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has vehemently voiced its concerns regarding the approach of media in the state when it comes to covering and debating on critical issues. The party alleges that certain Tamil channels have been neglecting significant issues faced by the people under the current Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government.

“Don’t you see the struggle of today’s teachers? Can’t you hear the cries of that child? Do not your mouths dare to speak of it? As the fourth pillar of democracy, when will your conscience realize that keeping your eyes, ears and mouth closed so that you don’t see things that are against the government, don’t listen to things that are against the government, and don’t speak things that are against the government is a danger to democracy? The AIADMK has taken a strong stance against what it perceives as a predilection in the Tamil media landscape. Numerous challenges exist in Tamil Nadu, including caste-based atrocities, inadequate infrastructure facilities, substandard government schools and hospitals, and low-quality housing boards in areas like Perumbakkam, Semmenchery, and Kannagi Nagar.
The AIADMK has voiced its concerns about the media’s role and its alignment with the DMK government and that certain media outlets have become seemingly partisan and have ignored their responsibility as the fourth pillar of democracy.
Media outlets in Tamil Nadu have a history of peddling fake news, amplifying Brahmin hate, Hindu hatred, covering news that favour the ruling party, while also fanning North-south divide.
