DMK Councillor Assaults Elderly Woman Amid Dispute In Parvathipuram During Preparations For DMK Min MRK Paneerselvam’s Campaign

The residents of Parvathipuram village are raising black flags and staging demonstrations against the Vallalar International Centre. Additionally, they have declared their intention to abstain from participating in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

DMK Minister MRK Paneerselvam’s decision to campaign in support of Kadalur DMK candidate Vishnu Prasad around Vadalur led to the hoisting of DMK flags in various places, including Parvathipuram. This move triggered heated exchanges, particularly outside the residence of an elderly woman named Dhanalakshmi.

Dhanalakshmi, expressing her discontent with the DMK’s stance on the Vallalar International Centre issue, objected to the hoisting of the party’s flag near her house. The disagreement quickly escalated when DMK 15th ward councillor Raja Boopathy and his brothers, including Paramasivam, allegedly assaulted the elderly woman.

Reports indicate that Dhanalakshmi sustained severe injuries, including a head injury resulting in profuse bleeding. Prompt intervention from neighbors saw her admitted to the Cuddalore Government Hospital for medical treatment.

Dhanalakshmi and her supporters are now contemplating filing a police complaint against the perpetrators.

It is to be noted that earlier Parvathipuram residents protested DMK’s Vallalar International Centre construction project. At this time, 161 residents were arrested and later released
