Dog becomes millionaire after owner leaves $5 million in its name before dying

A 5 year old border collie named Lulu has become one of the world’s richest dogs, after its owner left $5 million in its name before dying. Martha Burton, Lulu’s caretaker, said that Lulu’s owner, Bill Dorris, was a successful businessman who wasn’t married and died late last year. His will states that the money should be put into a trust for Lulu’s care. It allows for Burton to be reimbursed for reasonable monthly expenses in the care of Lulu.

The will reads: “$5,000,000 will be transferred to a trust to be formed upon my death for the care of my border collie Lulu.” The will specifies: “This trust is to provide for all the needs of Lulu. The dog will remain in possession of Martha Burton.”

Burton was the caretaker of Lulu even when Dorris was alive, and used to look after Lulu whenever his owner went on a trip or for business meetings. “I don’t really know what to think about it to tell you the truth,” Burton told News Channel 5 of Lulu’s relationship with her late master. “He just really loved the dog.”

Burton knows there’s no way she could ever spend $5 million on the canine. Not even a lifetime supply of treats and toys for Lulu could make a dent in the incredible inheritance.
