A woman from Kerala who had first raised objections to a Vishu advertisement by the Cherthala-based Mehr Mandi & Grills has now come forward publicly, alleging that she has been subjected to threats and online abuse following her remarks.

Speaking in an interview to Janam TV, the woman described the situation as distressing and said she now fears for her personal safety. She stated that she was particularly alarmed by the nature of the messages she received and expressed concern that something similar to the TJ Joseph hand-chopping case could happen to her.
During the interview, she recounted how the episode began after she reacted to social media posts related to the advertisement.
She said, “It was only yesterday that I came to know about this issue. As a Hindu believer, and even more as a devotee of Krishna, I felt deeply hurt. When I saw posts showing Krishna eating beef, Krishna eating chicken, Krishna eating mandi, I felt very upset as a believer. About that, I uploaded a post on Twitter. The comments under that post against me honestly frightened me. If I had been in Kerala, I might have faced something similar to what happened to Joseph teacher. I feel fortunate that I was outside Kerala. That is how vile it was under my Twitter post. They took the photo I had uploaded for Vishu along with my own photo and wrote: ‘I will come to your house, and when I come there, I will give you the answer for this.’ They also insulted my family, abused us in a filthy manner, and posted very dirty accusations and insults. In addition, they used threatening language like, ‘We will come to your house and give you the answer for this.’ It came from an account based in Saudi Arabia, from a Malayali there. For someone to send such religiously threatening messages from a country with so many restrictions and rules, that too to an account here, and to justify it in many places across Kerala…”
The host then asked whether she had approached the police regarding the threats.
She said, “As soon as they saw that post, they kept going through my old posts and commenting abusively under all of them. At that point, I tagged the Saudi Twitter account and also Kerala Police and uploaded a post. Other than that, I have not directly gone for any separate legal action. That is what I said, if I had been in Kerala, I would have been there with great anxiety. Because of this, within just one day, I faced a lot of trouble on Twitter. Under many old posts too, there were severe insults, abuse, and comments so vulgar that they cannot even be spoken aloud. I do not understand why they are doing this or what exactly they intend by it. If it were just one person from Kerala, there might be some way to explain it. But this was done in eight or ten similar patterns, even using slipper images and such things. So there seems to be an organized mafia behind this. Someone may have given them a quotation to do this. Otherwise, what else are we supposed to call this?”
The host concluded the interaction by encouraging her to remain strong and thanking her for speaking on the issue.
