A video clip from a celebrity gathering in Kerala has gone viral, showing Bigg Boss Malayalam fame model and TV personality Shiyas Kareem repeatedly pressuring a fellow TV celebrity, Anumol, to eat beef and then making a communally charged remark when she declined.
The incident occurred at what appears to be a television celebrity function involving multiple personalities from the Malayalam entertainment industry. In the video, Shiyas Kareem is seen calling out to Anumol and insisting she eat beef, shouting: “Hello Anu, eat beef, eat beef… eat beef, you eat beef, right?”
When Anumol declined, saying she was on a diet, Shiyas immediately turned the refusal into a political jibe: “Are you on a diet or are you BJP?”

When wearing hijab can be a matter of personal preference, it is unclear why eating beef becomes mandatory to look cool and not be associated with slurs like ‘sanghi’ or the political party BJP.
The incident has also led to renewed scrutiny of Kareem’s past.
As reported in NDTV, in October 2023, he was detained at Chennai airport in connection with a rape and cheating case registered by Kerala Police. Authorities had issued a lookout notice, following which he was intercepted upon arrival from Dubai.
According to police, the case was filed based on a complaint by a 32-year-old woman from Kasaragod, who had worked as a trainer at Kareem’s gym in Kochi. The complainant alleged that she had been subjected to repeated sexual assault since 2021 and accused him of financial misconduct, claiming he owed her ₹11 lakh.
Police officials at the time stated that a team would travel to Chennai to take him into custody, after which formal arrest procedures would be completed. The complaint further alleged that Kareem had promised to make her a business partner in his gym and had taken money from her under that assurance.
