If VCK Decides, Nobody Can Celebrate Deepavali: Thirumavalavan’s Goons Threaten People

A video circulating on social media shows a man identified as “Madurai Siruthai Kani” making explicit threats against BJP leaders and workers ahead of Deepavali, prompting BJP supporters to file complaints and demand police action.

In the video, which has been widely shared online, the speaker, described as a VCK (Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi) cadre warns BJP members that they will be prevented from holding political activity or moving freely in parts of Madurai. “Whenever you go asking for votes, you have to come to our street… There is no town where there is no panther (siruthai). Wherever he runs to, we will block him. Wherever his car goes, we have to stop/block him,” the man is heard saying. He also taunted BJP leader K. Annamalai, saying, “Hey Annamalai, no BJP member can walk in a dhoti in Madurai… If you go in your vehicle anywhere, we will stop it.”

In the video, he is heard saying “Hey BJP people, understand one thing clearly. Whenever you go asking for votes, you have to come to our street only. In each district, village, there will be atleast one panther (siruthai) and if he doesn’t slipper you, hey Annamalai, no BJP member can walk with his dhoti in Madurai. You have opposed our party and leader, now you cannot do politics anywhere, you hear that. If you go in your vehicle anywhere, we will stop it. Hey there is no town where there is no panther, there is no place where you can’t find a panther. You cannot enter anywhere from now. Wherever Modi comes, we must block him. Wherever Modi’s car goes, we have to stop/block him. Only then he will know about us. Very easily he says, why does your leader need Z+ security? Hey fools, to protect the people and in order for you to celebrate Deepavali peacefully, our leader has to be free, only then you can celebrate Deepavali. Otherwise, none of you will be able to move around,” he said, using threatening language that BJP supporters called intimidation of the public and a direct threat to national and state leaders who visit the city.

Reacting to the clip, BJP members in Madurai lodged complaints with the police. A complaint was reportedly filed by BJP lawyer Niranjan Kumar; another complaint was submitted on behalf of Guru Ramesh, the party’s Madurai metropolitan district president. Party sources say the complaints allege public threats and defamation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former state BJP president K. Annamalai.

Madurai police have acknowledged receipt of complaints and, according to the report, the city Commissioner assured complainants that appropriate action would be taken. Local BJP leaders said they expected swift investigation and possible legal steps against the individual identified in the video.

The episode adds to mounting tensions between the VCK and the BJP in the region. It is noteworthy that Annamalai publicly criticised VCK leader Thirumavalavan over the incident involving an alleged assault in a hit-and-run case, saying the latest video reflects an escalation in aggressive rhetoric.
