On 2 October 2025, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Swayamsevaks  celebrating the centenary year and Vijayadasami across the state were arrested by Dravidian Model police.

Tamil Nadu police detained dozens of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) members across the state during Vijayadasami celebrations, which coincided with the organization’s 100th centenary year.

In Chennai, 47 RSS workers were taken into custody near Porur after they conducted a Guru Puja and special Shakha training session at the Ayyappanthangal Government Higher Secondary School allegedly without obtaining ‘prior permission’, police confirmed.

In Ambur, Tirupattur district, RSS members were detained while marking Vijayadasami, despite having sought permission to hold the event at an alternate location, which was reportedly refused by local authorities.

The police stated that all arrests were made on the grounds of conducting events without “prior official approval”. No reports of violence or disturbances were recorded in connection with these gatherings.

The events were part of the RSS centenary celebrations, and the arrests have drawn attention across the state for the enforcement of permissions in cultural and religious gatherings.
