A disturbing CCTV footage showing a man attempting to abduct and sexually assault a 10-year-old girl in Gummidipoondi, Tiruvallur district, has gone viral, sparking outrage over child safety and law enforcement delays. The incident occurred on 12 July 2025 when the minor was returning home from school.
The video captures the accused stalking the girl before suddenly grabbing her and dragging her toward bushes. The child, displaying remarkable presence of mind, screamed and struggled, forcing the attacker to flee. She later informed her grandmother, who filed a police complaint at Arambakkam police station.
Despite the viral video and public pressure, the culprit remains unidentified and at large, raising concerns over police efficiency. Former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K. Annamalai shared the footage on his X handle, demanding urgent action. He wrote, “In Tiruvallur district near Gummidipoondi, on last Saturday, CCTV footage showing a ten-year-old girl walking on the road being abducted with her mouth covered and sexually assaulted is heart-wrenching. It is deeply distressing that even after five days since the crime, the culprit has not yet been arrested. The fact that such criminals, who engage in sexual offenses without regard for the victim being a minor, are freely roaming outside shows how dangerous the environment society is in. The question arises not only about how many times such a criminal, who so boldly commits sexual assault on a minor walking on the road, might have engaged in sexual crimes before, but also that his not being arrested yet creates the possibility for him to commit further crimes. I strongly urge the police to take immediate action to arrest this criminal without further delay.”

Three Krishnagiri schoolteachers arrested for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old student.
Earlier last year, a minor was assaulted at a fake NCC camp in the same district.
In Vedaranyam, a volleyball coach Mohammed Kalilur Rahman was arrested for repeated sexual assault on minor student under pretext of sports training.
Auto driver Taufeeq Umar from Mettupalayam was arrested under POCSO Act for sexually assaulting minor and forcing abortion.
A Trichy government doctor Samson Daniel was arrested under POCSO Act for sexually assaulting minors at the school hostel.
The list keeps going on and on. Law and order and safety for minors and even adult women has gone to the dogs in Tamil Nadu under the Dravidian model regime.
