In a disturbing incident in Chennai, the body of an advocate was discovered in his rented apartment in Virugambakkam on 30 March 2025, after neighbors reported a foul odor emanating from the unit.
Authorities identified the victim as Venkatesan, who had sustained several cuts to his head and face, raising suspicions of murder.
Venkatesan had been living in the apartment on Ganapathy Raj Main Road for the past four months, sharing the space with a friend. Investigations revealed that the apartment’s front door had been locked for two days. However, the strong smell coming from the unit prompted residents to notify the landlord, who lives in Kolathur. The Virugambakkam Police responded to the alert, and a team, led by the Inspector, entered the apartment through the back entrance, where they found Venkatesan’s decomposing body.
Upon closer inspection, the police noticed the visible wounds on the victim’s body, which indicated possible foul play.
The Joint Commissioner (West) and Deputy Commissioner (Koyambedu) visited the site to gather more information, including speaking with neighbors about the victim’s background. Initial inquiries revealed that Venkatesan had previously lived in Velachery before moving to this apartment four months ago.
The body was sent to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, and the investigation into the cause of death is ongoing.
