BRO builds roads near LAC as tensions with China keeps simmering

In the strategically important region of Eastern Ladakh, along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has been working round the clock to complete road projects crucial for rapid deployment of troops in case hostilities break out between India and China, reports Times of India.

BRO is now working 10 times faster and has bought new machinery costing crores. BRO’s workers and hired labour are working in double shifts, including on the weekends. This increase has been necessitated due to the ongoing tension with China which is threatening our borders.

With increased manpower necessary to expedite the long-neglected infrastructure needs, BRO has also spent crores in getting latest machines in road building to ensure there will be no delay in cutting of roads and frequent blasting activity for unabated construction.

B Kishan, executive engineer officer commanding from BRO’s 81 Road Construction Company shared, “In the current situation, to help the Army and other forces to transport any heavy pieces of machinery, BRO has adopted the latest machines which you won’t find in any other part of India. These machines are also reducing human risk and we are also dealing with explosives to cut mountains to build the roads.”

BRO has also deployed heavy machinery to clear the roads ahead of winters and new machines are in place that has increased the productivity tenfold.
