Samajwadi Party steps in to aid journalist Vikram Joshi’s family

The Samajwadi Party has announced to aid Vikram Joshi’s family with ₹2 lakhs. 

The Party has also demanded ₹ 25 lakh ex-gratia for Joshi’s family from the state government “so that the education of Joshi’s children could be completed,” the party said. 

The Uttar Pradesh Police stated that they have arrested 9 people, while one is absconding. 

Vikram Joshi, a journalist was shot by goons near his residence in Ghaziabad on 20 July, 2020.

According  to doctors, veins in his head were badly damaged due to the injury caused by the bullet.

The incident came to light after Joshi filed a complaint with Vijay Nagar Police Station. According to the complaint, some men were harassing his niece. 

The station in-charge has been suspended.
