“Youth Power Is A Boon To India”: Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham Pontiff Jagadguru Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal Calls For Hard Work, Frugality And Service

The power and energy of India’s youth can play a vital role in the country’s progress, said Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham Pontiff Jagadguru Pujyashri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal during his visit to Madurai.

Speaking during his visit, the Kanchi Pontiff called upon people, particularly the youth, to think constructively, work diligently and contribute to the welfare of society.

He said, “We must think constructively and care for the well-being of everyone. This life is a gift bestowed upon us by God’s grace. We have much to achieve and many challenges to face; therefore, we must utilize this life properly and act meaningfully. Young people should cultivate positive thinking in every aspect—whether regarding physical fitness, education, diet, mindset, or attire. We must look after the elderly well. India is a developing nation with both the need and the opportunity for further growth. A significant portion of the population—specifically those under the age of 35—consists of youth. Their numbers and energy play a vital role in the nation’s prosperity. Our country has progressed this far thanks to hard work, simple living, respect for elders, and the emulation of our ancestors’ virtuous deeds—such as providing water stations, offering food to the needy, and planting or maintaining shade-giving trees. We treat all living beings with love, adhering to the philosophy that ‘Love is God’ (Anbe Sivam). Thus, the energy of the youth is a great boon to India. You should harness this energy effectively, work diligently, live frugally, and engage in service. By embracing the principles of frugality, savings, and service, and by cultivating good habits, you should strive to be helpful to everyone.”
