Police have arrested a Youth Congress leader in connection with the suicide of a 37-year-old woman in Adoor after a note recovered from her residence allegedly blamed him for her death.
The accused, Suhail Ansari (33), a resident of Poruvazhy and a Youth Congress state secretary, was taken into custody by Enathu police on charges of abetment of suicide.
The woman, who worked as office staff at a private school in Kadampanad, was found hanging on the terrace of her house on the morning of 14 February 2026.
Following the incident, her family expressed suspicion regarding the circumstances of her death and lodged a complaint with the police, prompting an investigation.
According to investigators, a suicide note recovered from her home mentioned Suhail Ansari by name.
Police said the note alleged that he had been troubling her, mentally harassed her over phone calls, allegedly demanded a physical relationship, and asked her to share private photographs.
These allegations led the probe to focus on him.
Police said Suhail had previously worked as a Public Relations Officer (PRO) at the same private school where the woman was employed as a receptionist, and the two were known to each other.
Investigators also noted that the woman had been questioned by her husband regarding the acquaintance.
Based on the suicide note and the family’s complaint, Enathu police registered a case of abetment of suicide and proceeded with the arrest.
Further investigation is underway.
