Rioters who damaged public properties and vehicles in Bangalore on Tuesday (July 11) will have to pay for the damages, Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj S Bommai announced on Wednesday evening (12 August).
The Bengaluru rioters would be made to pay for the damages and the funds are expected to be recovered from their property.
As per the Supreme Court’s directive, the damages to public property would be recovered from the rioters.
The state will take immediate action and already in the process of calculating the losses and identifying the rioters who will pay.

According to the Karnataka home minister, over 145 people have been arrested by the police and more arrests are in order. The state has requested six additional CRPF companies to maintain peace.
The process of recovering assets from those who destroy public properties was started by the Utter Pradesh government led by Yogi Adhityanath during the CAA riots.
Karnataka Minister C T Ravi did not mince words when he said hat assets will be recovered from the rioters.
A large and angry Muslim mob went on a rampage in Bengaluru late in the evening on 11 August after taking offence to a Facebook comment by the nephew of a local Dalit Congress MLA.
The rioters attacked and attempted to set on fire the residence of Congress MLA Akhand Srinivasa Murthy, a Dalit leader in the nearby DJ Halli police station. The mob also damaged many houses and there was stone pelting that left many policemen including a senior IPS officer injured. Also, many police vehicles were torched by the uncontrolled mob.
