Wuhan virology lab claims bat strains in possession are not corona virus strains

Wuhan’s virology lab has confirmed possession of bat strains but strongly claims that they are not connected to the novel coronavirus strain that caused the pandemic.

Wang Yanyi, the director of Wuhan’s virology lab, while talking to the press, has called out on Donald Trump for trying to run a ‘smear campaign’, and has said that his claim that the virus was leaked from the facility was a “pure fabrication”. She further said that they had isolated and obtained coronavirus from bats, and that research has been going on since 2004, but that their highest similarity to SARS-CoV-2 only reaches 79.8 per cent. She added that they never “encountered, researched or kept the virus.”

“Regretfully, in addition to the raging coronavirus, a political virus is also spreading in the United States. This political virus is using every opportunity to attack and smear China,” said Wang, who is also China’s foreign minister.

The WHO is yet to reply to these claims, as tensions build all over the world with the numbers rising steadily. These accusations have rendered a huge blow to the US-China diplomatic relations, with most American companies all set to steadily shift their headquarters from China to other places in Asia.
