Woman who had miscarriage after CPM goons kicked her in the stomach is now BJP’s candidate for local body polls

Humiliated, attacked and kicked in the stomach by CPM goons in Kerala when she was pregnant, Jyotsna who had a miscarriage and had to abort her baby back then is now a BJP candidate for the local body polls to be held in the second week of December.

Back in January 2018, in Kerala’s Kozhikode district, Jyotsna who was four and half months into her pregnancy had to forcefully abort her baby after she was kicked by a Communist Party of India (Marxist) goon named Thamby during a scuffle between her husband and neighbours over a land boundary dispute. Seven CPI(M) workers were arrested in February 2018 for assaulting the pregnant woman, who lost her baby.

The then BJP State Chief Kummanam Rajasekharan issued a statement saying, “Under the Marxist regime, it seems even babies are not safe in wombs. Law and order is precarious and party workers are ruling the state”.

In this local body election, Jyotsna is contesting as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate in Koorachundu, Kerala. BJP National General Secretary (Organization) BL Santosh shared this information on Twitter.

Elections to 941 gram panchayats, 152 block panchayats, 14 district panchayats, 86 municipal councils, and 6 municipal corporations is slated to be held in three phases  on December 8, 10, and 14 with counting of votes happening on December 16.

The BJP’s rise in Kerala seems to be posing a serious challenge to the Communist regime. The party had put up an impressive performance in the 2015 local body elections winning 35 out of 100 seats in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation alone. This time the national party is looking forward to expand its footprints in other areas.
