When Bussy N Anand, the general secretary of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), faced the press regarding actor Vijay’s highly anticipated party conference, he appeared startled and began pleading with reporters, as if they might disrupt the event. In reality, they were merely asking questions to generate news. During this interaction, Anand’s driver drove off, prompting Anand to vent his frustration at the driver in visible anger.
Criticism arises, despite the party’s critical preparations for its debut conference amid pressure from the ruling DMK, such displays of fear and shouting at a driver reflect a lack of composure and arrogance for someone in his position.
Kollywood actor Vijay’s eagerly awaited first conference for his party, TVK, is scheduled for 27 October 2024, in Vikravandi, Viluppuram district. This event is highly anticipated as Vijay has remained largely silent about his political ideology since the party’s inception eight months ago. Observers are curious about his vision and how he plans to navigate the political landscape, particularly as he aligned himself closely to Dravidian ideology.
Preparations for the conference have been in full swing, since the morning the party was criticized for its cutouts featuring Vijay alongside anti-Hindu figure EVR and Ambedkar, positioned in the corner after Vijay, from netizens.
With only three days left until the conference, the party had restricted access to the venue, not allowing any outsiders inside, including journalists. As a result, when reporters spotted TVK General Secretary Bussy N Anand, they seized the opportunity to ask him questions and capture some newsworthy moments.
When the press inquired about the preparations for the conference, Anand replied, “As you can see, everything is progressing properly right.” another reporter then asked, “Is the chief coming to oversee things? Is there anything like that?” Anand started to plead, saying, “What can I say if you ask such questions?” He then turned to his driver, scolding him, “Will you stop it.” then he responded, “I want to be clear, I’m not some important person who can sit in the car and say. If you often do like this, I can’t do any work.”
This led to some journalists becoming upset, stating they didn’t want to be contacted again. Anand attempted to pacify them, then continued to answer their questions. He explained that, per police instructions, all arrangements—like CCTV cameras and water bottles had been set up by a private company on contract. As the reporters were leaving, he urged them not to be angry.

Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai previously encountered similar scrutiny from the press during his debut and the Lok Sabha election campaign. However, he faced these challenges with confidence, even warning reporters when they crossed the line. In contrast, the general secretary of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam, Bussy N. Anand, appeared overwhelmed by the media’s inquiries at this crucial moment. This raises significant questions about his ability to handle the pressures of Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
If Anand struggles in front of the press, it casts doubt on how he will confront larger political figures. Similarly, Kollywood actor Vijay, who has remained largely silent on political matters, adds another layer of uncertainty. Only time will tell if they can boldly face the consequences of their actions or if they risk being washed away in the political tide.
