Nanguneri’s Member of Legislative Assembly, Ruby Manokaran, was surrounded by the public in Tirunelveli district. The incident occurred during his inspection of the bus stand following complaints regarding inadequate facilities such as sanitation.

However, as he interacted with the public, they voiced their grievances about the irregular arrival of government buses in Nanguneri. They emphasized the importance of punctuality over free rides and expressed frustration over their repeated complaints going unaddressed. In response, MLA Ruby Manokaran promptly departed, promising to raise the issue with the relevant authorities.

A women said, “We will pay and go, send the bus properly. We don’t need free bus, we used to have private bus properly and now it had been cut. We don’t need free bus just ready (repair) the bus its enough.” Later continuing said,”They are talking so badly asking Nanguneri, morning and evening one and a half hour we are waiting. We came in the morning 7:30 but we got in bus only 8:20, we should be inside office within 8:45, our life seems to end waiting. See in the evening only 7’o clock bus before and after it there is no bus, leaving the children in home we are coming to work, the life goes simply by waiting for bus.”

Another woman said, “We are happy that after victory you’ve come, but think that don’t we need all the facility sir, Nanguneri has become a reserved constituency”

In this regard, Nanguneri MLA Ruby Manoharan wrote in his official X account that, “I visited Nanguneri bus station today when I came to know that basic facilities are not good there. I heard complaints from the public there. To construct new toilets for the convenience of public by contacting Nanguneri executive officer continuously, the existing toilets should be temporarily repaired. All electric lights should be switched on at night. Shops should be opened. I said that there should be no water in the bus station premises during rainy season. He also said that he would take immediate action. After that I contacted the traffic manager and told him that all the buses that are supposed to come and go to Nanguneri bus stand should come and go as per the government rules. He also said that he would take steps for that. Also to build a roof at the bus station for the convenience of the public, I told Mr. Vignesh, Assistant Engineer, Public Works, who was there, that I am allocating funds under the Legislative Assembly Constituency Development Fund 2024-2025 to start the measurement work. He also said that he is doing the work in a hurry. Roofing work will be started at Nanguneri Bus Stand soon.”
