VCK MP Thirumavalavan Mixes Up Chandrayaan Missions With Mangalyaan, Invokes Religion Of Aditya Mission Scientist

Viduthalai Siruthaigal Katchi (VCK) president and Lok Sabha MP Thol Thirumavalavan has exposed his ignorance to the public once again.

The last time he did this was when he spoke about reservations saying that Forward Castes (FC) enjoy a reservation of 50.5%.

This time, he has done it on the floor of the new parliament. Speaking to the House on the nation’s achievements in space, especially about the Chandrayaan-3 mission, he knowingly or unknowingly mixed up the Mangalyaan and Chandrayaan missions.

He said, “Mayilsamy Annadurai created history with Mangalyaan-1, Vanitha with Mangalyaan-2, and Veeramuthuvel with Mangalyaan-3. They are originally from Tamil Nadu, which gives me immense pleasure and joy.”

It is unclear if he mistakenly mixed up the two missions by a slip of the tongue. However, when talking about the Aditya L1 mission, he did not forget to mention the religion of the scientist from Tamil Nadu who was a part of the team.

He said, “Similarly, we have Aditya L1, a mission to observe the sun. Nihar Shaji, who is working on this project, a Muslim woman, she is from Tamil Nadu.” As soon as he uttered these words, the members of the House objected to his statement and said, “They are all Indians.”

In the past, Thirumavalavan was also accused of spreading misinformation about reservations, claiming that Forward Castes (FC) enjoy a reservation of 50.5%. During a discussion with civil service aspirants, he argued that there is a ceiling of 50% for reservation, with SC-ST getting 22.5% and BC having 27%, totaling 49.5%. He said that FC, predominantly Brahmins, cornered the rest of the reservation. Thirumavalavan claimed that forward castes enjoy the benefits of reservation without facing any struggle. He argued that the 10% reservation for the Economically Weaker Section is a hidden agenda to dilute social justice and that the logic behind this is correct. He argued that the SC community has been denied rights for generations, and allowing them to enjoy the benefits for a few generations could encourage potential protesters. It is important to note that the Indian constitutional provision on reservation allows for 50.5% for open competition from all communities, not an exclusive reservation granted for forward communities.

Prior to this, Thirumavalavan exposed his ignorance about GST in an interview where he didn’t even know that the State levies its own GST on products and services.
