The Uttar Pradesh Police have busted and confiscated yet another illegal weapon-making unit in Muzaffarnagar just weeks ahead of the assembly polls to the held in the state.
As per reports, a cache of illegal weapons has been recovered by police in a surprise raid in Kotwali in Muzaffarnagar district on Friday 21st January 2022 and the purpose of manufacturing these illegal weapons was to be supplied to three states during the upcoming assembly elections.
The Police arrested three individuals named Rajesh Kumar, Sarfaraz, and Shahid from the spot, while some other members of the illegal weapons factory managed to flee from the spot.
As per information released by the police, more than 131 completed and semi-finished weapons have recovered along with equipment for making weapons has also been recovered.
The weapons that the police managed to confiscate include rifles, pistols, muskets, quarters, revolvers, and a large number of cartridges.
Since the imposition of the code of conduct by the Election Commission of India, the Muzaffarnagar police have busted 10 illegal arms manufacturing factories and recovered about 154 illegal weapons in just one month.
The UP police based on the information provided by an informer, raided the factory that was making illegal weapons in Badkali village of Muzaffarnagar.
Senior superintendent of police Abhishek Yadav said, “Due to upcoming elections in various states including Uttar Pradesh, they were preparing country-made weapons to sell them. A special team, to arrest all rest of the members of this gang, has been formed and police are also tracking their contracts as well”.
Just weeks ahead of the UP state election, several illegal weapons-making units have been busted by police in the state including Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Shamli, etc as illegal weapons are in high demand during elections, and therefore such ‘handicraft’ units come up to cater to such demand.
