Union Minister of State Dr L Murugan bats for developing spiritual tourism in Tamil Nadu

Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Dr L Murugan today said there is a need to further develop the pilgrimage tourism by developing spiritual circuits in Tamil Nadu.

Speaking at a conclave of Tourism Ministers of southern States, held in Bengaluru under the chairmanship of Union Tourism Minister Shri G Kishan Reddy, Dr L Murugan said Gangaikonda Cholapuram, Mamallapuram, Gingee, Vellore, Thanjavur, Poompuhar, Tiruchirapalli, Dindigul and Madurai are some of the best heritage tourism spots of Tamil Nadu.

The MoS said six abodes of Lord Murugan which are Thiruparakundram, Thiruchendur, Palani, Swamimalai, Tiruttani and Palzhamudircholai are visited by the devotees with chants of “Vetri Vel Veera Vel”.

“Tamil Nadu is one such state which has more than 20 centuries of cultural heritage and historic significance. Tamil Nadu has been bestowed by nature with beautiful Coromandel coastline, eastern and western ghats, diverse plant and animal life and amazing scenic beauty,” Murugan added.

He said that the Union government led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is recognising the contribution and sacrifice of known as well as unsung freedom fighters.

“Tamil Nadu is proud to have many brave freedom fighters who made supreme sacrifice for Bharat Mata. Some of the freedom fighters are Mahakavi Subramania Bharathi, Tiruppur Kumaran,

Veerapandiya Kattabomman, V O Chidambaram Pillai, Dheeran Chinnamalai, Veera Mangai Velunachiyar,” he stated.
