Under UPA-2, 38000 sq km along LAC were illegally occupied by China

Responding to BJP MP YS Chowdary’s question in the Rajya Sabha on the details of land illegally occupied by China and Pakistan, the then Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed of the UPA admitted that the 38000 sq km of were occupied by the Chinese.

Reports also say that, China had grabbed 640 sq km of Indian territory in Eastern Ladakh soon after the then UPA government signed nine agreements with the country.

The then Minister had said “Pakistan has been an illegal and forcible occupation of approximately 78000 sq km. of  Indian Territory in Jammu and Kashmir. China continues to be in illegal occupation of approximately 38000 sq kilometers in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. In addition, under so-called Sino Pakistan Boundary agreement of 1963, Pakistan illegally ceded 5180 sq km of Indian territory in PoK to China”

This comes against the backdrop of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s continued attack on Prime Minister Modi on the Galwan Valley in which 20 Indian soldiers were martyred.
