An audio clip alleged to be that of Tamil Nadu Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan has surfaced on social media in which he accuses members of MK Stalin’s family of making more money in one year than they’ve made during their life time.
“Both Udhay and Sabari have realised, they have made more money in one year than they [unclear] entire lives and now it’s getting to be a problem, how to handle it, how to not get caught, how to get payments here.. [unclear] Its all being made gradually? 10 to 20 crores.. assuming we will say 5000 crores.. [unclear]. How can you [unclear] 5000 crores without paying any [unclear]”, the audio clip supposedly of PTR says.
According to political commentator ‘Savukku’ Shankar, Palanivel Thiagarajan made these comments to a Delhi journalist.
The audio clip has surfaced amidst Tamil Nadu BJP accusing DMK leaders of gaining disproportionate assets over the years.
On 14 April 2023 Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai revealed the details of ₹1.34 lakh crores in property amassed by the DMK leaders. As part of the first list, Annamalai released the property details of first 12 DMK leaders.
He also showed the press Richard Mille and other expensive watches worth more than a crore, which were used by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, his son Udhayanithi Stalin, and son-in-law Sabarisan.
Annamali also questioned Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies’ growth and sought information about its investors. He also accused Sabarisan, the son-in-law of MK Stalin of money laundering through shell companies and Westpac Bank.

The veracity of the audio clip is yet to be verified. More details awaited.
PTR Palaniel Thiagarajan had earlier abused a senior leader of his own party TKS Elangovan. In an interview with journalist Sandhya Ravishankar, Elangovan said that Palanivel Thiagarajan gets provoked easily. He also said that MK Stalin had already advised Palanivel Thiagarajan to not be loose with his words.
Proving the Elangovan right, Palanivel Thiagarajan made personal attacks on the senior DMK leader without naming him. PTR had called him ‘an old fool’ and ‘a person can be bought for 2 kg of shrimp’.
