Ari, a farmer who lives in Mukkundram Kullappa Gounderpatti had two 2 cows which were 6 and 7 months pregnant.
He found them missing from the shed outside his house since yesterday morning and started searching for them. He was able to trace the footprints of the cows as it had rained a few hours back. The footprints of the cows was found till Qaid-e-Millat Nagar. At a little distance, he found the severed legs and head of his cows.
Ravi and his villagers engaged in a picket on the Chittoor road by keeping the heads and legs of the cows slaughtered for meat. The woman folk of the village sat surrounding the mutilated parts of the cows and lamented.
Deputy Superintendent Sreedharan, Town Police Inspector Srinivasan, Taluka Inspector Sureshbabu, Sub-Inspectors Silambarasan and Sivachandran, who rushed to the spot after receiving the information, held talks with those involved in the road blockade and promised to arrest the culprits.
Ari subsequently lodged a complaint with the Gudiyatham taluka police. Inspector Sureshbabu filed a case and conducted an inquiry into the complaint.
It was revealed that one Mubarak Ali (28), son of a Sheriff from the Chittoor Gate area of Gudiyatham, along with his brother Rafeeq (36), who owns a butcher shop in the Chittoor Gate area were involved in the butchering of the pregnant cows.
Police have arrested Mubarak Ali and are investigating. They are looking for Rafeeq who is currently absconding.
