The Trump administration has made provisions to relax some of the rules for H-1B visa holders, Swarajya reported.
This decision will have a significant impact for Indians working in the IT sector. The new rule will allow individuals to enter the country in case they return to the same jobs they had before the visa ban was proclaimed.
As per the advisory released by the US Department of State, even the dependents, i.e spouses and children will also be able to travel with them, news agency ANI reported.
“Travel by applicants seeking to resume ongoing employment in the United States in the same position with the same employer and visa classification,” the advisory said.
The people who will benefit from this new relaxation of the rules are going to be technical specialists, senior-level managers, and other workers with H-1B visas. This also includes Healthcare professionals and medical researchers who will contribute to the country’s efforts to recover its economy and help the US fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Travel supported by a request from a US government agency or entity to meet critical US foreign policy objectives or to satisfy treaty or contractual obligations. This would include individuals, identified by the Department of Defense or another US government agency, performing research, providing IT support/services, or engaging other similar projects essential to a US government agency,” the advisory read.
