Transgenders take to the streets to create awareness against coronavirus

The central and state governments are taking steadfast measures to control the spread of coronavirus. To help the government in its efforts, members from the transgender community danced together on the road in the suburbs of Sholinganallur in Chennai and created awareness among the public.

Their dance was based on emphasizing the need to wear masks and follow social distancing norms while stepping out of the house, in order to control the spread of corona. Armed with placards and slogans, they educated those on the road and passersby on the importance of wearing a mask, frequent use of sanitizers, and explained why washing of hands regularly was necessary. They also went on to chant slogans about their community and how they have been sidelined during this crisis.

They provided free masks to motorists and the general public who went without helmets on the roads and highlighted the need to wear a helmet.

These members of the transgender community have been found to be constantly raising awareness about how to follow precautionary measures against the spread of the coronavirus.
