A traffic sub-inspector in Thanjavur who was involved in an argument with a DMK cadre was transferred overnight to the Department of Armed Reserve Police.
Due to the coronavirus lockdown that is in place, a lorry that had come without an e pass through the Thanjavur road had been stopped by Traffic Sub Inspector Mohan. He went on to ask the driver who was manning the lorry to pay a fine of ₹200 stating violation of rules. The lorry driver had immediately called Thanjavur DMK Deputy Secretary Neelakandan to complain about this.
Thanjavur DMK Deputy Secretary Neelakandan had then rushed to the spot with a few supporters and threatened him saying that he should release the lorry from his custody. This progressed into an argument wherein the traffic sub-inspector went on to demand why there was no action when there was a water shortage in their area, but the DMK had rushed to address this issue specifically.
Following this argument, Mohan was transferred to the Department of Armed Reserve Police overnight. The video of this incident has gone viral on social media.
