Trade unionists of Communists Party and Muslim League clash in Kerala fish market

The trade unionists belonging to the CPM and Muslim League exchanged blows at the Perambra fish market in Kozhikode district on August 20.

The Mathrubhumi reported that trade unionists of Muslim League’s Swathanthra Thozhilali Union (STU) and CPM’s Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) engaged in a brawl after a few members of the STU who had joined the CITU a few days back came to the market to sell fish which is considered as STU territory.

What started as a verbal altercation, escalated to exchanging sever blows between the two groups.

The Congress led UDF has alleged that 100 CITU workers led by standing committee of COVID19 protocol enforcement attacked the STU workers.

A case has been registered. All members who were involved in the incident is said to be quarantined.
