TN State Planning Commission Member, DMK Supporters Trivialize Killing Of Indian Army Soldier By DMK Councillor And Gang

A 29-year-old soldier of the Indian Army named Prabhu was beaten to death by 10 men including a DMK Municipal Councillor near Pochampalli in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu.

The unfortunate incident happened over a petty dispute which resulted in an altercation.

DMK Councillor Chinnasamy (50) belonged to the MGR Nagar, Velampatti near Pochampalli. Prabhu (29) and Prabhakaran (33), both of them are soldiers serving in the Indian Armed Forces living in the same area.

Prabhakaran’s wife was washing clothes near a tank in the Pochampalli area early on February 8 to which the DMK councillor had objected. He had reportedly abused her resulting in a heated exchange between the DMK councillor and Prabhakaran family.

That evening, DMK Councillor Chinnaswamy, along with more than 10 other people, attacked Prabhakaran and Prabhu. Both of them were severely injured.

Prabhu later lodged a complaint with the Nagarasampatti police. Based on the complaint, six of the accused were arrested on February 9, but Chinnasamy and two others were absconding who were nabbed on the evening of February 15.

This incident where an Indian Army soldier was thrashed to death by DMK Councillor and his men had sent shockwaves across the nation. Major national English news channels made it a a matter of prime time debate while the mainstream Tamil news channels looked the way.

With the horrific murder triggering national outrage, many DMK supporters have jumped in to trivialize the matter with a few even trying to defend the perpetrators.

Tamil Nadu State Planning Commission Member Amalorpavanathan Joseph trivialzed and demeaned the incident equating it to an incident where an alleged BJP functionary was caught for holding Marijuana.

When questioned, he went on to say “Do you also fall into this ‘jawan guarding the border’ trap?”

Another Dravidian Stockist DMK supporter K. Karunanidhi (known by his alias SKP Karuna) had also trivialized the army man’s death while making false equivalence to another incident where a Central Industrial Security Force personnel had pointed gun at a Tamil Nadu government bus driver for blocking a sensitive consignment.

“Remember when he threatened the public with a gun! Their superiors would have spoken to the highest level of our police and apologized and ended it without prosecution! Can the common man get away with this case? This generosity is the first enemy of this regime. The state police, who were supposed to be on the side of the people, sided with the army who pointed guns at civilians out of excessive patriotism. In response, the patriots and the national media, who are supposed to stand on the side of truth, stand against the state government. Let’s face it”, he said.

Another anonymous handle with tweets supporting Naam Tamilar Katchi had come out in defence of the perpetrator.
