NEET Results Burst DMK Propaganda
Tamil Nadu’s parents eagerly anticipate the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) ‘s provisional seat allotment list for NEET UG Round 1 on 29 August 2024. This provisional list allows candidates to raise objections if they spot any errors in seat allocation. After addressing these objections, the final seat allotment will be published on 30 August 2024.
Despite claims by DMK propaganda that the exam undermines social justice, the NEET results tell a different story. Many candidates from marginalized backgrounds have secured placements in prestigious government colleges, achieving their educational goals. This year, 43,063 candidates applied for NEET UG counselling. Ninety students scored over 700 marks, a significant increase compared to 29 students in 2023.
Additionally, the number of NEET students scoring between 600 and 697 marks has tripled, rising from 1,508 in 2023 to 4,639 in 2024. For government school quotas this year, 622 seats have been allocated.
Story Of TN NEET Winner Sholai Malar Kodi
After successfully navigating counselling and securing a spot in a government college, one student told reporters, “NEET isn’t a tough exam; it becomes easy if you study.” She introduced herself as Sholai Malar Kodi and recounted her journey to success, highlighting that she only studied in government schools. The medical aspirant proudly mentioned that her hard work paid off in her NEET results, earning her a seat at Virudhunagar Medical College.
She advised other aspirants, “Many people believe the NEET exam is tough, but it wasn’t as they said. Initially, I didn’t even know what NEET was, and after 12th grade, everyone warned me about its difficulty. However, I decided to give it a try. I believed that with effort, success would follow. So, I focused on my studies, put aside the thoughts that the exam was daunting, and concentrated on clearing it. So, focus on the exam, and everything will turn out well.”
While her mother proudly recounted the story, she said, “My daughter studied up to the 12th grade at a government school and expressed her aspiration to pursue NEET. As others said the exam was tough, we were concerned and questioned how she would manage. But she replied, ‘Even if it’s difficult, I’ll study. You make me study, and I will study.’ Although her marks were low, we took out a loan to support her first year of studies. The following year, she asked to continue. Still, we explained our family situation, particularly my husband’s leg pain, and questioned how I, with my low-paying job, could afford to continue her studies. Despite our concerns, she remained determined, saying, ‘Even with a loan, let me study, and I will pass.’ And just as she had promised, she succeeded this year.”
The student’s father also shared his humble background as a labourer and explained how the family supported their daughter’s education despite their challenges. He encouraged other parents to offer the same support to their daughters, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and commitment in achieving their goals.

TN NEET Students Clutching AIR 1
Countering the DMK’s anti-NEET fearmongering this year, Tamil Nadu witnessed a notable improvement in the NEET UG 2024 examination results.
The pass percentage soared to 58.4% compared to last year’s 54.4%. Moreover, the state surpassed the national average of 56.4%. Many TN students scored within the top 100 ranks, with eight scholars getting the coveted All India Rank 1.
This accomplishment reaffirms Tamil Nadu students’ exceptional academic prowess. Last year, Prabanjan J from the state emerged as a national joint topper. He had attained a remarkable percentile of 99.99 alongside Bora Varun Chakravarthi from Andhra Pradesh.
In the current year, eight students—Syed Aarifin Yusuf M, Shailaja S, Aditya Kumar Panda, Sriram P, Rajaneesh P, Jayathi Poorvaja M, Rohith R, and Sabareesan S—from Tamil Nadu achieved a flawless 99.99 percentile, securing the topmost ranks. Notably, Syed Aarifin Yusuf M leads among male candidates, while Shailaja stands out as the top performer in the female category.
This year saw a notable rise in the number of NEET candidates, totalling 1,52,920—an increase of 8,404 from the previous year. Out of these, 89,426 candidates qualified in the NEET, marking an increase of 10,000 from the last year. Additionally, 36,333 students took the exam in Tamil, showcasing the language’s popularity as a medium for examination.
