In an unprecedented move, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi dismissed V. Senthil Balaji from MK Stalin’s Council of Ministers.
The office of the Governor in a press release stated that Senthil Balaji is facing serious criminal proceedings in a number of corruption cases including taking cash for jobs and money laundering.
“Abusing his position as a Minister, he has been influencing the investigation and obstructing the due process of law and justice.”, the press release said.
“Currently he is in judicial custody in a criminal case being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate. Some more criminal cases against him under Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code are being investigated by the State Police.”, the press release further added.
The office of the Governor noted that there are reasonable apprehensions about Senthil Balaji continuing as a Minister as it may adversely fair investigation and due process of law eventually leading to a breakdown of Constitutional machinery in the state.
This particular line has raised the eyebrows of political observers with speculations of dismissal of the DMK government itself in the state.
“Under these circumstances, Hon’ble Governor has dismissed Thiru. V. Senthil Balaji from the Council of Ministers with immediate effect.”, the press release said.
