Tirupati Laddu Beef Fat Adulteration: Simply South App X Handle Shares Movie Clips Mocking Hindus, A2B Uses Opportunity To Promote Its Laddu

Streaming app Simply South and eatery A2B are some of the companies milking the Tirupati Laddu adulteration issue to promote themselves.

On September 19, 2024, Hindus across India were shocked when the results of tests on the ingredients of the Tirupati temple prasadam were made public.

A lab report revealed that beef tallow, fish oil, and palm oil were used in the preparation of the laddus distributed as prasad at the famous Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirupati.

The findings indicated that the ghee used in the making of the iconic Tirupati laddu prasadam during the YSRCP government contained traces of animal fat, including beef tallow and fish oil.

This sparked widespread outrage, with many accusing the authorities of disrespecting religious sentiments.

On the other hand, Dravidianists on the internet – including DMK-aligned social media pages, and journalists, have pounced on the opportunity to ridicule Hindus over the tragic episode.

There are also a few companies which are milking the Tirupati Laddu beef adulteration to promote their brands.

A streaming app named Simply South shared movie clips centering around laddu that comes across as a mockery of Hindus over the sacrilege of Tirupati prasadam.

One of the clips shared is from the movie “Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaya?“, (Kanna, do you want to eat laddus?). The song shows the three main characters of the film dancing to the title song in which one of the scene shows them going around Brahmin men sleeping on the roadside.

Another clips shared by Simply South is from the movie Aruvam, the story of which revolves around food adulteration. In one scene actor Siddharth who plays the protagonist confronts a lentil supplier who mixes beef fat/oil and sells it as “Nei Paruppu” (Ghee Dal).

Adapavigala.. Maatu kozhupayada kalakureenga? Idhu theryama avaa lan nannarku nu nakki nakki shapadraley da“, says actor Sathish playing food safety officer which translates to “You sinner! You’re mixing beef fat? Without knowing this, ‘they’ are eating it nicely licking their fingers.” As Sathish mouths the line “nicely licking their fingers” in Brahmin slang, the scene shows an Iyengar Brahmin man and women relishing the food at a hotel.

Simply South shared the clip with the caption “Idhu theriyaama avaa nakki nakki shaaptrukkhaley da!“, mocking Hindus particularly Brahmins over the Tirupati Laddu beef fat issue.

Simply South App is the same streaming service that had recently re-released the controversial Dravidian propaganda film ‘Annapoorani’ that was de-platformed from Netflix and Zee, following widespread outrage over its portrayal of Hindu Brahmin women and promotion of love jihad.

Another band that has tried to jump on the Tirupati Laddu beef fat issue bandwagon is A2B (Adyar Ananda Bhavan). This prominent food outlet chain shared a reel on their Instagram page with title “POV: SEEING MOTHI LADDU” with a meme of Parithabangal character.

This is not the first time that Adyar Ananda Bhavan has found itself in the midst of a controversy. Earlier in October 2023, the Managing Director of Adyar Ananda Bhavan, KT Srinivasa Raja had glorified anti-Hindu bigot EV Ramasamy Naicker (hailed as ‘Periyar’ by his followers) and peddled canards about Brahmins saying “A profession that was done by a particular community is now being done by anyone and everyone.”

An incident that has left the Hindus outraged is being milked by these brands to promote their products.
