A 85-year-old woman was sexually assaulted while grazing cattle near Uthangarai in Krishnagiri district, prompting a widespread search for an unidentified man, police said on Saturday.
The elderly woman, a resident of the Katteri area, was resting in the field after grazing her cattle when the suspect allegedly covered her mouth and assaulted her. She suffered severe injuries in the attack. The man fled the scene immediately after the incident.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the Krishnagiri Government Hospital. Police have registered a case and launched an intensive search operation to apprehend the absconding suspect.
