A functionary of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) was allegedly assaulted by a woman’s relatives after he was accused of sexually harassing a married woman and attempting to abduct her near Kulithalai in Karur district, as reported in Top Tamil News.
According to reports, Ramesh, the Krishnarayapuram Union Secretary of TVK, had allegedly been sexually harassing the married woman for the past three months. The woman’s relatives allegedly assaulted him after he was caught while allegedly attempting to abduct her on Tuesday.
The woman’s relatives also alleged that despite lodging a complaint with the Kulithalai Police, no action had been taken, and the police had shown negligence in handling the case.

In a separate incident, another TVK functionary, Jai Krishna, was arrested by the Tiruttani All Women Police in connection with a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Police said Jai Krishna, a resident of Pallipattu in Tiruvallur district, allegedly deceived a minor girl by claiming that he loved her and cheated her of cash and jewellery worth approximately ₹15 lakh before absconding.
Following an investigation, police traced him to Andhra Pradesh, arrested him under the POCSO Act and remanded him to judicial custody.
