BJP Tamil Nadu state Treasurer SR Sekhar responded to the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department (HR&CE) Minister Sekhar Babu that property belonging to the temple cannot be transferred to residents staying in the property as there is no provision in law to provide for it.
Speaking at a recent meeting in Chennai Corporation, the HR&CE minister Sekarbabu indicated that the temple land inhabited by poor people will be transferred to them over time according to the HR&CE Department’s 78th by-law. This indication of the minister was criticized by devotees and the general public.
SR Sekhar, Tamil Nadu BJP State Treasurer, criticizes HR&CE Minister Sekhar Babu, saying that the HR&CE can only administer temple properties and do not have the authority to sell or transfer to people who inhabit them.
“It’s appalling that the HR&CE minister is siding with Temple property encroachers and speaking directly against the recent historic verdict of the Chennai High Court Judges Mahadevan and AdhiKesavalu” he added.
He also raised his doubts about the authenticity of the documents uploaded by the HR&CE department on its official website.
TR Ramesh, President of the Temple Worshipers Association, condemned HR&CE Minister Sekhar Babu’s statements in support of transferring the temple property to the people who are occupying it.
