Tension prevailed at the Thiruparankundram Murugan temple when a liquor bottle was found in the bag of a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) volunteers who had come to the shrine as they have come to attend the party’s second state conference in Madurai’s Parapatti on 21 August 2025
According to police, security personnel on duty at the temple stopped and checked the bags of a group of TVK workers arriving for darshan. During inspection, a liquor bottle was discovered. In the commotion, the bottle slipped and fell at the temple entrance, creating a scene that shocked devotees.
Temple cleaning staff immediately rushed to clear the mess. However, the incident caused inconvenience to worshippers visiting the temple since morning. Police later seized the liquor and sent back the volunteers involved.
The discovery of alcohol within temple premises has sparked sharp reactions from devotees, with many condemning the negligence. Temple authorities and police are monitoring the situation closely.
