Tamil Nadu Congress Leader EVKS Elangovan has demanded that the BJP serve beef to him and his party members in response to Annamalai’s comments on providing food for Congress.
This heated exchange started when PM Narendra Modi highlighted the mysterious disappearance of the keys to the Ratna Bhandar, the treasure house of the Puri Jagannath Temple, which have reportedly been missing for six years in Odisha’s campaign rally.
“When keys of our own houses are not found, we pray to Lord Jagannath and seek his blessings to find the keys… But keys of the Ratna Bhandar have been missing for six years,” Modi remarked during his speech, questioning the transparency and governance of the BJD-led administration.
He further pressed the issue, stating, “All of Odisha wants to know about the findings of the inquiry committee report on the missing keys of the Ratna Bhandar, but the BJD has suppressed it. BJD’s silence is further deepening people’s doubt on the issue.”
During another rally in Cuttack, PM Modi hinted at rumors concerning the key’s whereabouts, provocatively suggesting, “People say that the key of Shri Ratna Bhandar has gone to Tamil Nadu. Who sent it to Tamil Nadu?” This remark was seen as an indirect reference to V. K. Pandian, a close aide of Chief Minister Naik, who is originally from Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu Congress Party leader Selvaperunthagai said, “If the Tamils are insulted or the Tamil language is insulted in the future, Bharatiya Janata Party has no chance to exist in Tamil Nadu. If Modi and Amit Shah do not apologize unconditionally to the people of Tamil Nadu within a week, the Congress party will besiege the BJP office in Tamil Nadu.”
In a counter-response, Tamil Nadu BJP State President Annamalai retorted, “I learned that the Tamil Nadu State President of the Congress Party has announced that he is going to lay siege to the Tamil Nadu BJP head office. If our office announces the date of arrival in advance, it will be convenient to arrange food for the ten people coming. To all those who come, we can give a book on the betrayals of DMK and Congress to Tamils as a gift. We have decided to upload a video on social media on that day showing how DMK and Congress are enemies of Tamils. Therefore, I request the Tamil Nadu State President of the Congress Party to let our state head office know in advance only the upcoming date.”
Responding to this, Congress leader E. V. K. S. Elangovan added another layer to the heated exchange, saying, “If we go there (TN BJP office) we need non-veg food. We like beef. So we need non-veg food and beef. We will give them 2 days of time.”
