CM Edappadi Palaniswami yesterday wrote to the people of Tamil Nadu detailing about the measures taken by the government in the fight against COVID19. He highlighted that the state has 72 testing labs, the highest in the country and that treatment for COVID19 patients are being covered under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (adaptation of Ayushman Bharat Scheme).
He said that as of June 4, more than 5,50,000 tests were done out of which 86% were asymptomatic. He also said that Tamil Nadu has the highest number of patients recovering from the virus and that the death rates were one of the lowest not just in India but in the entire world. 123 government hospitals and 169 private hospitals have been roped in to treat COVID19 patients. He also enumerated the PPE kits made ready for the frontline workers. He thanked the people for donating to the CM’s relief fund and urged them to continue sending in their contributions. More than 2 crore family cards have been provided with rations and ₹1000 cash support and 35,65,000 people working as weavers, barbers and other unregistered workers have been provided with ₹2000 cash support.
The Chief Minister mentioned that COVID19 outbreak has affected the lives of people. He said that without it is impossible to control the spread of the disease without the cooperation of the people. He urged the people to frequently wash hands, wear facemasks and practice social distancing.
CM said that his government has constituted a Special Task Force to attract investments into the state and give a push to the economy. He added that the government has struck a deal of ₹15000 crore which will lead to creation of 47,000 job opportunities for the youth.
The CM thanked the frontline workers like doctors, nurses, hygiene workers for their efforts in the fight against COVID – 19.
The CM has requested people not to step out of homes unnecessarily and to cooperate with the government to win the battle against COVID – 19.
