Tamil actor Arya caught in scandal, accused of duping ₹70 lakh from a woman with a promise of marriage

Jamshad Cethirakath, a famous Tamil actor who goes by the screen name ‘Arya’, is someone who has been experiencing a dip in his market. His recent release Teddy did decently on OTT but had released after quite a long time. He had incurred a lot of losses after self-producing his movie. His next movie, Sarpatta Parambarai, is slated to release this year. He got married to actress Sayyesshaa about two years ago.

He has now been caught in a scandal of cheating and fleeing away with the money of Vidja, a Srilankan-Tamil woman who works as an officer in Germany’s Health and Safety Department. He had allegedly been in a long-distance relationship with this woman since 2018. Promising to marry her, he had duped ₹70 lakh from her. He had then cut all contact with her.

In lieu of this, the victim had sent the President and Prime Minister of India an official complaint explaining her plight. A set of screenshots of him threatening to harm this woman if she didn’t withdraw the case against him is going viral on social media. Speaking to Polimer News, she said that the actor and his mother had threatened that they would not return her money back to her, despite having promised earlier that he would marry her after divorcing Sayyeshaa.

Saravanavel, an IAS officer from Tamil Nadu has been assigned this case for investigation. A special investigation team is now on this case to uncover the truth behind this scandal.
