Subramanian Swamy Calls TN CM MK Stalin “Stupid”, Schools Him That CAA Is Not For TN

Since the morning sunrise today, social media has been flooded with mockery, ridicule, and jests aimed at Dravidian parties and other groups making concerted efforts to paint the Citizenship Amendment Act as discriminatory, particularly against the Indian Muslim minority.

On 12 March 2024, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin released a statement expressing the government’s stance against the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The rules for the CAA were officially notified by the Union Home Ministry on 11 March 2024. Emphasizing that the CAA was detrimental to minorities and Sri Lankan Tamils residing in camps in the state, Stalin asserted that the government deemed the Act unnecessary and called for its rescission.

In his statement, Chief Minister Stalin stated that the Tamil Nadu government would not permit the enforcement of the CAA within the state under any circumstances. He reiterated the government’s commitment to preventing any legislation that posed a threat to the unity of India. According to Stalin, the rules outlined by the Union government for the CAA not only contradicted the fundamental principles of the Constitution but also went against the welfare of the Indian people, the diverse nature of India, and its secular character. Highlighting the context, Chief Minister referenced the resolution adopted by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on 8  September 2021, opposing the CAA. He also mentioned the opposition to the CAA from various states and speculated whether the timing of the CAA’s notification was politically motivated, potentially aimed at diverting attention from pressing issues like the Supreme Court’s consideration of the electoral bonds matter.

Following online criticism from netizens, Subramanian Swamy, a senior BJP leader and former MP, is gaining attention on social media for ridiculing MK Stalin with the remark, “Stupid. It is for Kashmir and North east and not for TN.” This statement is going viral, with netizens joining in the comments to express their opinions and views.
