Stalin does a flip-flop on lockdown

Just a day after taking oath as Chief Minister, MK Stalin has imposed a full lockdown for a period of 14 days starting from May 10 to May 24.

It is to be noted that a few days ago on 24th April, the now Chief Minister MK Stalin had warned the government of imposing another lockdown after May 2.

Back then he had said that the lives and livelihoods in the state are not in a position to bear the brunt of another lockdown imposed by the government and that the authorities should take steps to ensure availability of beds, oxygen, ventilators and drugs required and prevent the spread of the virus.

Tamil Nadu is currently witnessing the second wave of the Wuhan Virus pandemic with hospitals getting overwhelmed with patients. A few days ago 13 patients had died at a hospital in Chengalpattu allegedly due to non-availability of oxygen.

In view of the rising cases, the Tamil Nadu government has imposed the lockdown. While it is necessary to impose curbs on movement in this time, many took to social media to point out the double talk of Mr. Stalin.
