SSI Arrested for Filming Woman Constable During CM’s Security Duty; TTV Dhinakaran Slams DMK

A Special Sub-Inspector (SSI) attached to the Paramakudi Town Police Station was arrested and remanded to judicial custody after he was caught secretly filming a woman police constable inside a toilet during Chief Minister MK Stalin’s visit to Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district.

The incident occurred on 17 January 2026, when the Chief Minister visited Paramakudi to inaugurate the memorial hall of freedom fighter and martyr Immanuel Sekaran. In view of the high-profile visit, extensive police security arrangements were made across Ramanathapuram district, with personnel, including women constables, deployed from various parts of Tamil Nadu.

SSI Muthupandi, who was assigned security duty at the Mani Nagar check-post in Paramakudi, was on duty along with a team that included women constables from the Thanjavur region. According to the complaint, when the women constables used the toilet at the check-post and returned, they noticed that a mobile phone was actively recording video inside the toilet. The phone was recovered from the toilet, and it was subsequently found to belong to SSI Muthupandi.

On examining the device, it allegedly emerged that the SSI had recorded video footage of the women constables while they were inside the toilet. Shocked by the incident, one of the women constables lodged a formal complaint at the Paramakudi All Women Police Station.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered against SSI Muthupandi. He was arrested by the police and later produced before a court, which remanded him to the Ramanathapuram sub-jail.

TTV Dhinakaran Slams DMK Govt

In a post slamming the DMK-led state government, AMMK chief TTV Dhinakaran wrote, “Special Sub-Inspector Arrested for Filming Woman Constable Inside Toilet During Chief Minister’s Security Duty — If Even Women Police Are Unsafe, How Can Other Women Live Safely in Tamil Nadu?

Reports have emerged that a Special Sub-Inspector has been arrested for allegedly recording a woman police constable on a mobile phone while she was using a toilet in Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram district, where she had been deployed for the Chief Minister’s security duty. This deplorable incident involving a woman constable who was on security duty at a government function attended by the Chief Minister has exposed how seriously women’s safety has been compromised in Tamil Nadu. That a police officer—whose responsibility is to prevent crimes against women and ensure a safe environment—has allegedly viewed a fellow woman constable as an object, has brought great disgrace to the entire police force. Therefore, while taking stringent action against the Special Sub-Inspector who behaved in a manner that harassed a woman constable, I urge the police department and the Tamil Nadu government to ensure the safety of all women police personnel, including those deployed for the Chief Minister’s security. @CMOTamilnadu”
