In a compassionate gesture, Sri Vidhusekhara Bharathi Swamiji, the head of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham, has announced financial assistance of ₹2 lakh each to the families of the 26 victims who lost their lives in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

The gruesome attack, which occurred on 22 April 2025 in the Baisaran Valley area of Pahalgam—a popular tourist destination—claimed the lives of 26 people, sparking nationwide outrage and grief.

Condemning the attack in strong terms, Sri Vidhusekhara Bharathi Swamiji expressed profound sorrow over the loss and urged solidarity among Hindus. “Twenty-six families are grieving the loss of their loved ones. Hindus must stand by fellow Hindus. Therefore, on behalf of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham, we are offering ₹2 lakh to each family as a sacred offering (prasada),” he said.

The seer also extended his blessings to the bereaved families, praying for their peace, happiness, and future prosperity. The compensation will be distributed as prasada through the Peetham’s administrative wing, which will coordinate efforts to ensure the aid reaches victims’ families across India.

This support comes in addition to the compensation announced by the Karnataka government. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had earlier declared a ₹10 lakh relief for each of the families of victims from Karnataka.

Sri Vidusekhara Bharathi Swamiji, the successor-designate to Jagadguru Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji, reaffirmed the Sringeri Mutt’s dedication to serving and supporting the Hindu community in times of crisis.
