Squirrels are responsible for power outages in TN, DMK Minister makes startling divulgence

Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji gave a shocking response to a question on why there are frequent power outages in Tamil Nadu, claiming that squirrels that run over electric lines are to blame.

Ever since the DMK came to power in Tamil Nadu, there have been several instances of unannounced power outages in various parts of the state. After a long time, the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board’s call center in Chennai saw more than 13,000 complaints of power cuts getting registered.

DMK government’s 24×7 toll-free number 1912 for the public to register complaints about power outages was also not yielding any results, which the minister himself admits. Therefore, the DMK government released another customer care number 9498794987 through which the consumers can make their complaints and clarify their doubts about the electricity bills.

In this scenario, the Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister, speaking to the press about the frequent power outages in Tamil Nadu, stated that branches of trees are touching the electric wires, and squirrels running on the wire create friction, resulting in power outages.

His ridiculous comments on the power outage were mocked by netizens on social media.
