SPB gets a ‘forest memorial’ in Coimbatore

In memory of the noted playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam (fondly called as SPB), who had recently succumbed to COVID19 complications, a memorial called ‘SPB Vanam’ is being established in Coimbatore by ‘Siruthuli’ organization.

‘Siruthuli’ is an organization working to restore and rejuvenate the natural environment in Coimbatore. The main objective of this organization is to protect water resources, prevent deforestation and implement effective waste management.

During the last video concert in which the late singer  participated, he mentioned that ‘COVID’ is the price humanity is paying for abusing Mother Earth. He further went on to beseech his fans to conserve the environment. In fulfilment of his request, the ‘Siruthuli’ organization along with Perur, Chettipalayam Panchayat is to set up SPB Vanam at the Officers Colony premises, Bachapalayam, on Thursday morning (December 10) at 10:30 AM. They have created an urban forest consisting of 74 trees, reminiscent of his 74 years of living in this world.

Tamil Nadu Home Minister SP Velumani will inaugurate the memorial. Vivek, founder and actor of ‘Green Kalam’ will preside over as the special guest.
